I didn't think I'd ever feature a full AI film here. This one changed my mind.
The AI is the least interesting part of it. It's the control that got me - the pacing, the escalation, the way it keeps you leaning in the whole runtime, and an ending that sits with you after the credits. Even the premiere was part of the work: staged so watching it felt rare, a little illicit, like you weren't supposed to have found it. The direction is sharp. What it does to the audience is sharper.
After centuries of simulated wars, wives, and wonders, a jaded aristocrat visits his neighborhood dreamspool dealer in search of something, anything, that still feels real.
